The non-ferrous metal separator uses rare earth permanent magnets to induce eddy currents into metal particles during operation. The repulsive force generated by the eddy currents separates metals from non-metals, providing a cleaner product for subsequent processing. The removal of metals is selective and minimizes product loss.
The non-ferrous metal separator consists of an external drum, an internal permanent magnet rotor, a drive unit and a belt conveyor. The external drum shell is made of non-metallic composite materials and rotates at conventional belt conveyor speeds. The internal rare earth alternating polarity rotor rotates at a much higher speed than the external drum shell.
Through the induction of eddy currents and the resulting repulsive force, the alternating magnetic field selectively repels non-ferrous metals and physically separates them from other materials while minimizing product loss.
